-Your Quality Assurance Program A) proval No. 0683 is hereby terminated.

The

- Nuclear Regulatory Commission pualished a final rule, effective June 27. 1997.

revising the requirements of 10 CFR Part 34

" Licenses for Industrial Radiography and Radiation Safety Requirements for Industrial Radiographic F

Operations." The revision. which contained numerous changes in the requirements, also modified the quality assurance (0A) requirements for l

transportation.

As a result of these changes, a separate NRC 0A program approval.is no_ longer needed.

Specifically. transportation activities are now contained in a new paragraph, 10 CFR 71.101(g). This provision was added to the regulations and requires' that inspection and maintenance )rograms limited-to radiographic exposure devices, source changers, or paccages transporting these devices and meeting the provisions of 10 CFR Part 34.31(b). or equivalent Agreement State 3

regulations, satisfy the general license requirements specified in 10 CFR Part 71.12(b) for Type.B transport packages.
