By letter PLA-7950 dated October 5, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML21279A026), as supplemented by letter PLA-7979 dated December 16, 2021 (ADAMS Accession No. ML21350A265), Susquehanna Nuclear, LLC (the licensee) requested a license amendment to Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. The NRC staff concluded that the licensees submittal, as supplemented, provides technical information in sufficient detail to enable the NRC staff to complete its detailed technical review and make an independent assessment regarding the acceptability of the proposed request in terms of regulatory requirements and the protection of public health and safety and the environment. Given the lesser scope and depth of the acceptance review as compared to the detailed technical review, the NRC staff may identify issues that affect its ability to complete the detailed technical review despite completion of an adequate acceptance review. If the NRC staff needs additional information, it will notify the licensee by separate correspondence. Based on its initial review of the application, the NRC staff estimates that it will take approximately 550 hours to complete its review of the application and that it will complete its review on or by December 16, 2022. However, because some NRC review team members were out of the office during compilation of this acceptance review, the hours estimate may need revised after the 2021 holidays. I will inform you of any changes in the hours estimate soon after the holidays, if needed. The staffs estimates could also change because of several factors, such as requests for additional information, unanticipated addition of application scope, NRC advisory committee reviews, parallel reviews of industry program initiatives or pilot applications, or hearing-related activities. If complexities or challenges during the review cause significant changes to the estimated hours or completion date, the staffs licensing project manager will communicate the new estimates and reasons for the changes to the licensee during routine interactions. | Based on its initial review of the application, the NRC staff estimates that it will take approximately 550 hours to complete its review of the application and that it will complete its review on or by December 16, 2022. NRC LIC-109 Acceptance Review Results for Susquehanna 1 & 2 ECCS TS LAR (EPID L-2021-LLA-0184)
Hi Shane,
By letter PLA-7950 dated October 5, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML21279A026), as supplemented by letter PLA-7979 dated December 16, 2021 (ADAMS Accession No. ML21350A265), Susquehanna Nuclear, LLC (the licensee) requested a license amendment to Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-14 and NPF-22 for the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station (Susquehanna), Units 1 and 2, respectively related to the technical specifications for the emergency core cooling system instrumentation. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff performs acceptance reviews of applications to determine if the scope and depth of technical information is sufficient for the staff to complete its technical reviews. The NRC staff also performs an acceptance review to identify whether an application has any readily apparent information insufficiencies in its characterization of the regulatory requirements or the licensing basis of the plant.
Based on its initial review of the application, the NRC staff estimates that it will take approximately 550 hours0.00637 days
0.153 hours
9.093915e-4 weeks
2.09275e-4 months
to complete its review of the application and that it will complete its review on or by December 16, 2022.
