"      Interrogatory No. 1 Provide names of Licensee, Contractor, and NiiC inspectors and welders who are64dicated in all safety related welding deficiency or infraction reports or notices, so that Applichnt can provide depositions and/or affidavits.
Answer The names of the Licensee and Contractor Inspectors and welders who are indicated on NHC Inspection reports by the NRC and who were involved with safety-related welding deficiencies or infractions are listed on the attached sheets ad]acent to the associated NRC Inspection Report numbers. The names listed were
,        compiled by reviewing the inspection reports and records-          ,
associated with the work and eliminating those individuals who would not normally be involved with welding. The NRC Inspection Reports listed were compiled by reviewing the NRC Inspection Reports provided in Discovery 14, Item 1 and Discovery 15, Item 1 and eliminating those not identifying safety-related welding infractions involving weld defects, violations or welding procedure specifications by welders, or inadequate welding inspection.    ,

Interrogatory No. 2 AWPP requests that Applicant provide date for a site visit for AWPP and representatives to see all actual repairs, and for Applicant to have AWPP and representatives witness Applicant's performance of re-inspection of deficient welds via non-destructive tests on same.
Answer As previously discussed with Mr. Romano, Applicant is willing to allow AWPP's qualified technical representative to view specific welds or veld repairs, within reason, at the Limerick 4
Generating Station if such welds are presently accessible and if they can be reached without difficulty, e.g. without construction of scaffolding or use of a cherry picker.                          AWPP's qualified technical representative must have recognized credentials, e.g.
SNT-TC-1 A Level III certification, for the particular inspection conducted or witnessed.                          If there is a specific and compelling need to do so, Applicant will permit AWPPes qualified technical representative to witness tests performed by Applicant's personnel, at the expense of AWPP, if such tests are meaningful and may be performed without damaging the weld or component, or causing undue delay.                          Applicant has already suggested a date which was not acceptable to Mr. Romano, and is awaiting further contact by Mr. Romano.

-    Interrogatory No. 3 Indicate name of welders who, more than one time, were involved in reported deficient welds, and who never the less were not discharged or separated from work at Limerick.
_ Answer The review of the names of the welders involved in safety-related welding infractions reported in the NRC Inspection                                    s Reports listed in answer to Interrogatory No. 1 did not identify any velders who were involved more than once.
4 Safety-related welding for Limerick is generally performed to either ASME Boiler and Pressure Yessel Code or AWS D1.1 Code requirements. The AWS D1.1-72,73-74 code requires the inspector to verify the qualification of welders and permit welding only by qualified welders.                        The ASME BSPV Code requires traceability of
, welder's identify to the particular weld; the AWS D1.1 code does not require traceability of the welder's identify to the particular weld.                        Therefore, not all welders who performed deficient welds, identified by the NRC as welding infractions, have been identified.
The performance of welders is monitored and the cause of any weld deficiency is evaluated.                      When determined that the welder is experiencing difficulty in welding, he is retrained and/or regualified as appropriate, not necessarily discharged or separated.
