MD9963 AND MD9964) On January 15, 2009, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) and the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response (NSIR) staff had a closed meeting with representatives of Southern California Edison, licensee for San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS). The licensee requested the meeting to discuss its proposed physical security plan changes during the upcoming steam generator replacement outages at SONGS, expected impacts and temporary security measures, and implementation schedule with phased approvals.

The licensee indicated that the proposed changes are expected to last for a period of 21 months, from June 2008 to February 2010, and that portions of the changes may need to be processed under a license amendment request (Section 50.90 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR)), and the rest under 10 CFR 50.54(p).
