- Chauhan, Jitendra Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. § 552), I respectfully request access to all records and communications held by your agency pertaining to the crash of Air India Flight 171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (registration VT-ANB),
which tragically crashed on 12 June 2025 shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport, India, en route to London Gatwick Airport, UK. The accident resulted in 260 fatalities, including 241 onboard and 19 on the ground, with only one survivor. The aircraft crashed into a hostel block at B.J. Medical College in Ahmedabad, and the incident drew international attention, including an on-site visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Requested Records: I am specifically requesting the following records: 1. Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) data - full audio or transcript;
- 2. Flight Data Recorder (FDR) summaries and interpretations; 3. All internal communications, emails, reports, or memos between the FAA, NTSB, Boeing, Air India, or other investigative bodies regarding this incident; 4. Any safety bulletins, advisories, directives, or internal evaluations issued or under review by your agency or Boeing in response to this crash.

July 23, 2025 Week Ending: July 18, 2025 ENCLOSURE C Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Items of Interest Electric Power Research Institute Sessions During July 7, 2025, to July 10, 2025, the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation staff in the Division of Engineering and External Hazards participated in familiarization sessions with Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to gain insights into recent revisions of EPRI documents involving a methodology for systematic development of high quality digital safety systems, that will serve as the technical basis for NEI 20-07, Revision E, Guidance for Addressing Common Cause Failure in High Safety-Significant Safety-Related Digital I&C Systems. These sessions have prepared the staff to host a public Tabletop Exercise with the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) to walk through examples using NEI 20-07, Revision E, on July 23rd and 24th. Following the Tabletop, NEI plans to submit NEI 20-07, Revision E, for the staffs review in late August.
Federal Register Notice was Issued for the Publication of NUREG-2191 On July 17, 2025, a Federal Register Notice was issued for the publication of NUREG-2191, Generic Aging Lessons Learned for Subsequent License Renewal (GALL-SLR), Final Report, Revision 1, Volume 1 and 2; NUREG-2192, Standard Review Plan for Review of Subsequent License Renewal Applications for Nuclear Power Plants, Final Report, Revision 1; and NUREG-2221, Technical Bases for Changes in the Subsequent License Renewal Guidance Documents, NUREG-2191, Revision 1, and NUREG-2192, Revision 1, Supplement 1. These incorporate completed SLR Interim Staff Guidance since the initial issuance of NUREG-2191, Volumes 1 and 2, new or updated industry guidance, codes and standards, and recent and significant plant operating experience. The Standard Review Plan also implements staff review efficiencies from the License Renewal Roadmap.
July 23, 2025 Week Ending: July 18, 2025 ENCLOSURE D Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards Items of Interest Administrative False Claims Act of 2023; Final Rule; 10 CFR Parts 12 and 13 (NRC-2025-0019; RIN 3150-AL31)
On July 17, 2025, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) published a document in the Federal Register (90 FR 33263) amending its Program Fraud Civil Remedies Act (PFCRA) regulations to ensure compliance with the Administrative False Claims Act of 2023 (AFCA). The AFCA requires agencies to review and update existing regulations to ensure compliance with the AFCA amendments. The final rule includes changes to the NRC's PFCRA regulations required to meet the AFCA amendments and includes edits to correct typographical errors. The final rule is effective on July 17, 2025.
NRC Staff Met with Prairie Island Indian Community on NRCs Tribal Liaison Program On July 17, 2025, the Tribal Relations Team (TRT) and Office of General Counsel met with representatives of the Prairie Island Indian Community (PIIC) at NRC's Headquarters. The TRT provided an overview of the agency's Tribal Liaison Program, consultation practices, participation in Tribal working groups, the Advance Notification Program, and NRC training availability for Tribes and States. PIIC expressed appreciation for its collaborative working relationship with the NRC and Xcel Energy.
