RE: Docket ID NRC-2024-0135 The NRC has no regulations authorizing the restart of a closed reactor. There are serious negative aspects to nuclear power. It is not clean or renewable. The spent fuel, which is stored less than a mile from my home, will remain dangerous for generations, The Palisades plant was closed because it was not economical. Nuclear power has been more expensive than conventional forms of electrical generation. The ever-present risk of catastrophic accidents is heightened by observed organizational inadequacies at nuclear fuel cycle facilities and have been correlated with impacts on public health and the environment.
