By letter dated February 24, 2020, Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) submitted proposed Alternative FNP-ISI-AL T-05-06, Version 1.0 (ADAMS accession number ML20055F672) to allow ASME Code Case N-729-4, Inspection Item B4.40 for Reactor Vessel Closure Head (RVCH) nozzle and partial penetration welds of Primary Water Stress Corrosion Cracking (PWSCC)-resistant materials to be re-examined once every 20 years for Farley Nuclear Plant (FNP) Unit 2 in lieu of the current approved interval of 15 years as documented in the associated NRC safety evaluation (ADAMS accession number ML15104A192). Code Case N-729-6 was recently approved by reference in 10 CFR 50.55a for unconditional use and also allows Inspection Item B4.40 for Reactor Vessel Closure Head (RVCH) nozzle and partial penetration welds of Primary Water Stress Corrosion Cracking (PWSCC)-resistant materials to be re-examined once every 20 years. This negates the need for SNC's proposed Alternative. Based on this, SNC hereby withdraws Alternative FNP-ISI-AL T-05-06, Version 1.0.
