REVISION NO. 24 OF CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 6386 FOR THE MODEL NO. 235R001 TRANSPORTATION PACKAGE

Dear Nicholas Plate:

As requested by Naval Reactors application dated January 23, 2025, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML25064A382), enclosed is Certificate of Compliance No. 6386, Revision No. 24, for the Model No. 235R001 transportation package.

Changes made to the enclosed certificate are indicated by vertical lines in the margin. The staffs safety evaluation report is also enclosed.

The approval constitutes authority to use the package for shipment of radioactive material and for the package to be shipped in accordance with the provisions of Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 173.471.

The applicant did not request any changes to the package design, operating procedures, acceptance tests, or maintenance program of the package. Renewal of the certificate does not affect the ability of the package to meet the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 71. The certificate has been renewed for an additional 5 years.

CONDITIONS Condition 5(a)(2) was revised to remove S8G content as there will be no more shipments of this fuel type.

Condition No. 5(b) was revised to remove S8G content as there will be no more shipments of this fuel type. As a result, contents of 5(b)(1) were renumbered and 5(b)(1)(vi) through 5(b)(1)(vii) were deleted.

Condition No. 5(b)(2)(i) was revised to reflect the new numbering of 5(b)(1). Condition No. 5(b)(2)(ii) was deleted.

Condition No. 5(c)(1) was deleted due to the removal of S8G content. Condition Nos. 5(c)(2) and 5(c)(3) were then renumbered to 5(c)(1) and 5(c)(2).

Condition No. 6 was revised to reflect the new numbering of 5(b)(1).

Condition No. 8 was revised to reflect the new expiration date of April 30, 2030. The REFERENCES section was revised to include the date of the letter requesting package renewal.

Editorial changes were made throughout the Conditions of the CoC, at the request of Naval Reactors.

2 CONCLUSION The certificate has been renewed for a 5-year term. These changes do not affect the ability of the package to meet the requirements of 10 CFR Part 71.
