WASHINGTON PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT PLAN APPROVAL
Dear Lauren Jenks:
On December 18, 2024, the Washington Agreement State Program (Washington) submitted a Program Improvement Plan (PIP) based on the results of the 2024 follow-up IMPEP review and the decision to continue the period of heightened oversight. The 2024 PIP specifies planned actions to address performance issues identified during the 2024 follow-up Integrated Materials Performance Evaluation Program (IMPEP) review. The PIP is available in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC's) Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession Number ML24226A409. The NRC has reviewed the information provided in the PIP and determined that the PIP adequately addresses the performance issues identified during the 2024 follow-up IMPEP review. The PIP also contains estimated completion dates, where available, and specifies clear roles and responsibilities. Based on the staff review, NRC approves the PIP.
The next monthly status call between the NRC and Washington is scheduled to be conducted on January 16, 2025. Please submit any PIP status updates to Farrah Gaskins at Farrah.Gaskins@nrc.gov, at least five days prior to subsequent calls.
