The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff plans to issue an amendment to Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) for Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant (Hatch), Units 1 and 2, on approximately December 9, 2024.
By application dated December 6, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML23340A223), as supplemented by letter dated May 7, 2024 (ML24128A250), SNC requested changes to the Technical Specifications (TS) for Hatch, Units 1 and 2. The proposed license amendment request (LAR) would revise Hatch TS requirements to permit the use of risk informed completion times, not exceeding 45 days, for the condition of one pump inoperable in TS 3.7.1, Residual Heat Removal Service Water (RHRSW) System,
and in TS 3.7.2, Plant Service Water (PSW) System and Ultimate Heat Sink (UHS). The amendments also make corresponding changes to TS 5.5.16, Risk Informed Completion Time Program, and to TS 1.3, Completion Times, Example 1.3-8.
If the State of Georgia has comments on the LAR, please provide the comments by the close of business on November 22, 2024.
