SUMMARY
OF AUGUST 29, 2024, ANNUAL NRC/INPO SENIOR MANAGEMENT PUBLIC MEETING On August 29, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held an Observation public meeting with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) to allow senior management from both organizations to discuss major topics of interest. This meeting was the annual public information exchange meeting between the NRC and INPO as described in the Memorandum of Agreement between INPO and the NRC (Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems (ADAMS) Accession No. ML23026A093).
Representatives from NRC and INPO exchanged information on major activities to avoid unnecessary and unintentional duplication of activities and to discuss observations and analysis of operational trends at operating reactors. After the open session, a closed session was conducted to permit dialogue that included INPO proprietary information.
The NRC managements presentation (ML24239A842) included a discussion on trends in inspection findings, an overview of lessons-learned from oversight of the Vogtle Units 3 and 4 construction process, and how the NRC is applying risk-informed principles in regulatory decision-making processes. The public meeting notice details including the agenda are provided in the public meeting notice (ML24220A143).
Members of the public observed the meeting via webinar and were given the opportunity to make comments or pose questions to the NRC staff. The public participants provided no comments.
