OF AUGUST 8-9, 2023, CLOSED TECHNOLOGY UPDATE MEETING WITH GE HITACHI NUCLEAR ENERGY AMERICAS, GLOBAL NUCLEAR FUEL AMERICAS, AND THE U.S.
NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION (EPID L-2023-NTM-0000)
On August 8-9, 2023, a hybrid closed meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff and representatives from GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas (GEH-A) and Global Nuclear Fuel Americas (GNF-A) virtually and in-person attendance in Wilmington, NC, to discuss proprietary information regarding GEH-A and GNF-A fuel performance and future plans.
The meeting was noticed on July 10, 2023, and the meeting notice with agenda is available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession No. ML23215A032.
On August 8, 2023, in the morning portion of the meeting the GEH-A and GNF-A representatives provided updates on the control blade inspection, fuel performance, ARMOR, and accident tolerant fuel (ATF) program, including a presentation on ATF lead test assemblies.
During the afternoon portion of the meeting the GEH-A and GNF-A representatives provided updates on LANCR/PANAC, GNF3 water rod, channels performance, PRIME LEU+, the BWR-X300 technology, and licensing activities and plans. On August 9, 2023, the NRC staff that attended the meeting in-person in Wilmington, NC, participated in a tour of the facility.
