OF APRIL 26, 2022, PARTIALLY CLOSED MEETING WITH FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT TO DISCUSS PLANNED LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST RELATED TO REACTOR COOLANT PUMP SEAL REPLACEMENTS (EPID L-2021-LRM-0009)
On April 26, 2022, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a partially closed meeting with representatives of Florida Power and Light Company (FPL or the licensee) to discuss a planned license amendment request (LAR) related to reactor coolant pump seals for the Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 3 and 4. The meeting notice and agenda for this meeting, dated April 11, 2022, are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML22101A158. A list of attendees is enclosed. No regulatory decisions were made at this meeting.
During the open portion the licensee presented (ML22111A178), on the following topics related to the planned LAR:
Purpose and background Impact on probabilistic risk assessment (PRA)
Fire PRA refinements PRA quality Defense in depth and safety margins Schedule for submittal and requested approval Details of the reactor coolant pump seals were discussed in detail during the closed portion of the meeting.
