In accordance with 10 CFR 70.59, we are transmitting the semiannual effluent report required for the period January 1,1999 through June 30,1999. By copy of this letter, one copy of this report is being forwarded to the Director, Office of Nuclear Material Safety and q

Safeguards, U. S. Nuclear regulatory Commission. Additional copies are being sent to the State of California, Department of Health Services.

l Table 1 lists data on the radiological gaseous and particulate effluent released to unrestricted areas from our facilities handling radioactive material. The release point descriptions are keyed to the facility names whose relative locations are shown on Figure 1, a plan view of GA's Main Site and Sorrento Valley sites. Tables 2 and 2A provide the radiological liquid effluent which was released into a 100 million gallon / day regional sewerage treatment plant (within regulatory limits). Attachment A provides detailed information concerning airborne effluent stack sample i

results over this reporting period. Attachment B provides the detailed calculations regarding the l

liquid effluent released into the sanitary sewerage system. All airborne and liquid effluent releases were well within the allowable State of California and NRC 10CFR20 limits.

Table 1 lists data on the radiological gaseous and particulate effluent released to unrestricted areas from our facilities handling radioactive material. The release point descriptions are keyed to the facility names whose relative locations are shown on Figure 1, a plan view of GA's main l

site and GA's Sorrento Valley site. Table 2 and Table 2A provide the radiological liquid effluent which is released into a 100 million gallon / day regional sewerage treatment plant. Table 2 is for the current reporting period (January 1,1999 through June 30,1999) and Table 2A is for the previous reporting period (July 1,1998 through December 31,1998) which was inadvertently not included in the last report.

Attachment A provides detailed information concerning airbome effluent stack sample results over this reporting period. Attachment B provides the detailed liquid effluent calculations used to prepare Tables 2 and 2A.
