ELIMINATION OF ARBITRARY INTERMEDIATE PIPE BREAKS - CATAWBA fiUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 By letter dated November 20, 1985, and supplemented March 24, 1986, you forwarded for NRC review and approval, a technical document proposing the elimination of certain arbitrary interrediate pipe breaks in high energy lines (other than the RCS primary loops) for Catawba Nuclear Station, Unit 1, and in the Pressurizer Surge Line and the Main Feedwater Line for Unit 2.
By letter dated April 2,1984, the NRC staff approved the elimination of this type of breaks Main Feedwater Line)gy piping systems (other than the Pressurizer Surge Line and in certain high ener for Catawba Unit 2.
The staff has completed its review of your submittals.
Enclosed is our Safety Evaluation Report in which we find that your proposal is an acceptable deviation from Section 3.6.2 of the Standard Review Plan (NUREG-0800, Revision 1).
