Dear Mr. Sellman:
In letters d' ated March 17 and September 18,1998, Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WE) submitted responses to NRC Generic Letter (GL) 97-05, " Steam Generator Tube Inspection Techniques." The focus of GL 97-05 was to verify that licensee steam generator tube inspection practices were consistent with existing regulatory requirements and plant licensing bases. The WE responses to GL 97-05 included a description and technical basis for all inspection techniques used to size the depth of steam generator tube degradation at Point Beach, Unit 1. The' staff's review of these responses did not identify any concerns with the steam generator tube inspection techniques employed at Point Beach Unit 1 that would indicate WE is not in compliance with the current licensing basis for this facility.
This completes our review of GL 97-05 for Point Beach, Unit 1 and closes TAC No. MA0484. It should be noted that this item was closed for Point Beach, Unit 2 in a letter dated August 31,
