Subject:
TURBINE GENERATOR FAILURE At 11:41 a.m. on April 27, 1977, with reactor operating at 100% power, the turbine generator tripped and the reactor scrammed as a result of an electrical phase differential across the generator and the main trans-former, and a ground on the main generator. Preliminary investigation indicated that a water hose that supplies water for cooling the stator windings may have developed a leak that shorted one or more conductors; however, the cause and extent of damage to the generator is still unknown.
The turbine generator is expected to be out of service for at least three weeks.
