"453.B Control' Rods 1.
The coupling integrity. shall be verified for each control rod following refueling outage or for, specifically affected control rods-following maintenance on or codification to,the-control rod or rod drive system'which could affect the rod drive ' coupling.
integrity by:
a.
Performing a rod pull test with the head removed from the 1
reactor vessel. The rod pull test shall consist.of with-
~
drawing the rod one notch then pulling the red to the fully -
inserted position.
The red shall be considered coupled if the lif ting force required to return the rod to the fully-inserted position is greater than (
) lbs. but less then

) lbs.

Observing discernible response of the nuclear instru=enta-i tion sft:en the rod is withdrawn.
For rods withdrawn early in startup when response is not discernible, subsequent exercising of these rods af ter the reactor-is critical shall.
