Dear Sir:
The purpose of this letter is to provide additional infor-mation regarding the subject matter.
On Reference 1 the Power Authority provided clarification to the response to Item 2.1.4 of NUREG-0578 previously submitted via Reference 2.
Also, it was indicated that the Power Authority would further review this sub-ject.
This review identified that the drywell equipment drain sump discharge valve (20-AOV-95) and drywell floor drain sump valve (20-AOV-83) would open after manual reset of the isolation signal, if the respective control switches for these valves were left in the auto /open position.
This condition was corrected by connecting a contact from the valves control switches into the reset circuit of the isolation signal relay.
As a result of this modification the operator is now required to place the control switches for these valves in a close position prior to resetting the isolation signals.
Should these valves need to be open, operator action is required to place control switches in the open position.

The report entitled, " Response to NUREG-0578 Item 2.1.4" is in the process of being revised to include the clarification provided in Reference 3, and the information in this letter.
The revised report will be forwarded to you shortly.
The review of the containment isolation provisions for the JAF plant was performed in conformance NUREG-0578 Item 2.1.4
" Containment Isolation Provisions for PWR and BWRs".
Consequently, this review was solely based on the criteria contained therein as clarified by the NRC in Reference 3 above.
The Power Authority considers that the intent of this requirement has been satisfied as indicated in References 1, 2, 4 and supplemented in this letter.
It should be noted; however, that the issue of containment isolation is being considered by the BWR Owner's Group generically.
There-fore, the Power Authority through it's membership in the BWR Owner's Group will monitor any development on this issue and pro-vide any information as appropriate.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact this office.
Very truly yours, J.
