1 78-55/3L-0 RB VALVEX Power reduction for Rod Pattern change, scram testing CRD, and backwash main condenser. Two CRDs would not scram because of broken seat plugging the exhaust port of scram pilot valve. Parts replaced in kind.

6 The fuel, which is presently expected to be loaded during the next scheduled shutdown, may be reload fuel of a neu design and may therefore require a proposed license submittal and technical specification changes.
It is not possible, however, to supply pertinent information on dates.
As information concerning fuel design, core configuration, Operational Review Conmiittee determinations, proposed licensing action, and technical specification submittals becomes available, it will be forwarded to you.

BOSTON EDISON COMPANY PILCRIM NUCLEAR POWER STATION DOCKET NO. 50-293 SUME\\RY OF OPERATIONS FOR DECEMBER, 1978 The month of December began with the unit operating at 100% power.
On Saturday, December 2nd the reactor power level was reduced to 50% to backwash the main condenser and charge the control rod pattern.
At the conclusion of the backwash and control rod pattern change, the power level was increased at 10MWT/hr. until 100% power was readied on Tuesday, December 5th, at 1530 hours0.0177 days <br />0.425 hours <br />0.00253 weeks <br />5.82165e-4 months <br />.
On Saturday, December 8th, the power level was reduced to 90% for twenty minutes for the purpose of exercising selected control rods.
The unit remained at 100% power until Saturday, December 16th at which time the reactor power 1cvel was reduced to backwash the main condenser and replace the brushes on the "A" recirc. M.C. set.
At the conclusion of this work the unit returned to 100%.
The unit remained at 100% power level until Sunday, December 31st, at which time the power level was reduced for 30 minutes to exercise selected control rods.
The month closed out with the unit operating at 100% power.
