[External_Sender] ER To whom it concerns, Wed like to add our comments on the Holtec ER.
1)We understand there are serious questions about the legality of the whole projectwhether it is legal for the DOE to transport this waste to a private siteand that this is not addressed in the ER.
- 2) The ER doesnt analyse the impacts of interim storage in the likely event that it becomes permanent storage or the option of keeping the spent fuel on site at the nuclear facilities.
- 3) On the otherhand, should interim truly be interim it is necessary to analyse the dangerous impacts of transporting the fuel twiceonce to this facility and then to a more permanent one.The ER does not do this.
We are opposed to using New Mexico as a dumping ground for this dangerous material. All efforts should go into stopping the production of more spent fuel. Nuclear power plants need to be decommisioned and we need to commit ourselves to alternative energy such as solar and wind.
Sincerely, Dee Homans and Andrew Davis, P.O. 1354, Santa FE, NM 87504
