ACTION: Document Request (Proprietary Determination) - Response to NRC RAI for the F-522 Good morning Michael, I am taking over this case from John Vera (he is transferring to Region IV as an inspector!). I am going over the submittals and I am going to need the following information before finalizing the case:
- 1. Redacted version of the RAI responses provided in letters dated September 20, 2017, and January 16, 2018. (The affidavit requests to withhold the responses to the RAls, but RAls responses are not marked as "proprietary information" and ALL the content in the RAI responses seems to the "proprietary. n
- 2. Specify if the microshield analysis provided by letter dated September 20, 2017, is considered proprietary or not. If it is considered proprietary, the applicant needs to submit an affidavit stating why the document should be withheld from public disclosure.
- 3. Specify if document No. R119.017.SUR[1], "Shielding Analysis Report...," is considered proprietary or not.
If it is considered proprietary, the applicant needs to submit an affidavit stating why the document should be withheld from public disclosure.
I am WAH today until Noon and you can contact me through the NRC operator at 301-415-7000 if you need to talk to me.

Response to NRC RAI for the F-522 Hello Mr. Conroy, Please find attached Nordion's response to the NRC's questions on our F522 transport certificate endorsement request. You will find attached; a cover letter with our responses, a draft version of drawing F652201-001, supporting microshield data, and a draft version of document IS/DS 2651 F522. We will provide finalized versions of the drawing and procedure once they have been approved.
-Nordion is seeking clarification on one of the questions and it's applicability to the regulations. This is fully described in the cover letter.
This RAI and it's response will result in some changes domestically for us. Our CNSC approval is tied to the current version of IS/DS 2651 F522. Once we revise the procedure we will be submitting it to the CNSC along with a request to amend the current certificate. As this is a simple change, I wouldn't expect that process to take too long.
I have also included a copy of an affidavit requesting that the information from the original submission along with this response be withheld from public disclosure.
