GENERIC LETTER 92-01, REVISION 1, REACTOR VESSEL STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY, REQUEST FOR ADDITIONALINFORMATION
'Gentlemen:
By letters dated December 17, 1992 (NMP1L 0723) and February 26, 1993 (NMP1L 0739),
Niagara Mohawk provided elastic-plastic fracture mechanics assessments for Nine Mile Point Unit 1 beltline plates for Service Level A and B loadings and Service Level C and D loadings, respectively.
These reports demonstrate that a margin of safety exists against fracture equivalent to that required by Appendix G of ASME Code Section III, for beltline plates having upper-shelf energy values below the screening criterion of 50 ft-lb. By letter dated July 22, 1993, the NRC Staff requested that Niagara Mohawk submit additional information for each of the above submittals, as identified in Enclosures 1 and 2 of their letter.
Enclosed is Niagara Mohawk's response to the Staff's July 22, 1993 request for additional information.
The Enclosure 1 responses address our December 17, 1992 submittal for Service Level A and B loadings and the Enclosure 2 responses address our February 26, 1993 submittal for Service Level C and D loadings.
