ENS and HPN Phone Requirements

Dear Mr. Tedesco:

Reference (2) above transmitted information with regard to APS's understanding of existing requirements with regard to the Emergency Notification System (ENS) and the Health Physics Network,(HPN).

Reference (1) indicated that ENS access should be available in the NRC Resident Inspector's office and the Shift 'Supervisor's office among others.

Likewise, it was indicated that HPN access should be available in the Inspector's office,'-,among others.

APS has reviewed this information and has not been able to locate a specific NRC requirement for the above three locations.

While partial costs of these systems is borne by the NRC, considerable installation costs would be associated in our compliance.

For this reason, no action will be taken to provide these capabilities.
