UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REGION III 2443 WARRENVILLE RD. SUITE 210 LISLE, IL 60532-4352 August 18, 2017 Mr. Bryan C. Hanson Senior VP, Exelon Generation Company, LLC President and CNO, Exelon Nuclear 4300 Winfield Road Warrenville, IL 60555
SUBJECT:
QUAD CITIES NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 - NOTIFICATION OF AN NRC BIENNIAL LICENSED OPERATOR REQUALIFICATION PROGRAM INSPECTION AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
Dear Mr. Hanson:
In a telephone conversation on August 17, 2017, between Mr. Raymond Keith Walton, Senior Operations Engineer, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) lead inspector for this inspection, and Mr. T. Resig, Licensed Operator Requal Training Lead, final arrangements were made for the NRC to inspect the licensed operator requalification program at the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station. The inspection is planned for the week of October 16, 2017, which coincides with your regularly scheduled requalification examination cycle. The staff at your facility should prepare and conduct the requalification examinations in accordance with your NRC-approved requalification program.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 55.59(c), the NRC requested the facility licensee to submit their biennial comprehensive requalification written examination for the week of the inspection and annual operating tests for the week before and the week of the inspection to support the NRC's inspection program needs. In order to minimize the impact that the inspection has on the site and to ensure a productive inspection, we have enclosed a request for documents needed for the inspection. Please electronically furnish the items listed in the first group of the attached enclosure, needed to support our in-office inspection activities, to the NRC by October 6, 2017. Please have the items listed in the second group of the attached enclosure available for the inspectors during the onsite portion of the inspection activities. Mr. T. Resig has been advised of this request.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. If there are any questions regarding either the inspection, or the material requested in the enclosure, please contact Keith Walton at 630-829-9836 or via e-mail at raymond.walton@nrc.gov.
This letter does not contain new or amended information collection requirements subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.). Existing information collection requirements were approved by the Office of Management and Budget, Control Number 3150-0011. The NRC may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to, a request for information or an information collection requirement unless the requesting document displays a currently valid Office of Management and Budget Control Number.
B. Hanson This letter and its enclosure will be available for public inspection and copying at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html and at the NRC Public Document Room in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public Inspections, Exemptions, Requests for Withholding.
Sincerely,
/RA/
