Dear Mr. Clark:
Re:
Nine Mile Point Unit 2 Docket No. 50-410 Your letter of 'April 13, 1973,,requested information relative to the reactor pedestal at our Nine, Mile Point Unit 2.
An initial report on the cracked concrete discovered in the reactor vessel pedestal at the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant was submitted to the Directorate of Regulatory Operations by letter of February 16,
- 1973, from the Power Authority of the State of New York.
The Stone 8 Webster Engineering Corporation is presently preparing a more detailed report on this matter in response 'to an AEC request.
It is our understanding that this more detailed report will be
- submitted by mid-May, 1973.
Although the overall conceptual design for these reactor pedestals are similar, it is premature to conclude that the detailed designs are the same because details for the Unit 2 pedestal are not scheduled to be developed for several months.
The results of the James A. FitzPatrick Plant analysis will be considered in the Unit 2 design to preclude a similar occurrence.
