Dear Ms. Mitchell-Wilson:
In a letter of March 19, 1985, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NCR) provided your office with documentation supporting a determination of no adverse effect with regard to certain archeological sites in the 230 kV transmission line corridor related to the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. The letter also stated that, based on the information provided by the Southern California Edison Company the NRC concluded that, subject to the implementation of the Droposed data recovery plan, the operation and maintenance activities associated with the transmission line will have no adverse effect on the si'tes in question and requested the California State Historic Preservatian Officer's concurrence in this finding. On May 9, 1985, Dr. Hans KHuetzburg called to say that concurrence would be forthcoming.
In a letter dated May 8, 1985, the NRC was sent a report from Southern Califcrnia Edison Company entitled "Cultural Resources Data Recovery Program for the 230 kV Transmission Line Rights-of-Way from San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station to Black Star Canyon and Santiago Substation, Volume I, Cultural Resource Report," September 15, 1982. A copy of this report was also sent to your office. This was verified in a telephone conversation with Mr. Robert Jackson of your staff on May 28, 1985.
The NRC would appreciate your review and comments relating to the report so that de may move toward closure of this project.
Sincerely, 83507150103 85605 PDR ADOC 0500361 George W. Knighton, Chief p
