Summary of Region I BWR Containment Vents Prepared by the Senior Reactor Analysts February 2012 Summary:

There are 8 Mark I Containments in Region I (Nine Mile Point Unit 1, Vermont Yankee, Oyster Creek, Pilgrm, FitzPatrick, Peach Botom Units 2and 3, Hope Creek) o All have a hardened torus vent installed:

o FitzPatrick is hardened up to SBGT train. The SBGT is located in a room outside of the Reactor Buill g (RB) (secondary containment).

o Mostl Outside of Scope

  • re dependent on AC, DC or pneumatic power and would not be available from fr control room following a complete loss of power, except for FitzPat ck andOulside of Scope ere the valves in the RB can be operated manually.

o 50.54 (hh) containment venting requires local RB o eration of valves:

oeoEfcope jj*,

'Most except for FitzPatrick OitsideofScpe riscussed'above,'require temporary pneumatic supplies and possibly a temporary power supply.

Some like FitzPatrickI Outside of Scope use the Harened Torus Vent path.

General Insights o All the current paths are suitable for pre-core damage actions to reduce containment pressure.

This action is needed, except fol Outside of Scope jto ensure that SRVs which operate on differential pressure between the N2 system and the containment pressure, remain open.
