The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC or the applicant) held a telephone conference call on May 21, 2013, to discuss and clarify the staff's requests for additional information (RAls) concerning the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station license renewal application. provides a listing of the participants and Enclosure 2 contains a summary of the staff discussion with FENOC. A brief description on the status of the items is also included.

OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION May21,2013 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC or the applicant) held a telephone conference call on May 21,2013, to discuss and clarify the following requests for additional information (RAls) concerning the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station license renewal application (LRA).

Response to 4.2.4-1 dated November 2.2012 The purpose of the call was to discuss the FENOC November 2,2012, supplemental response to the staffs RAI4.2.4-1. The staff stated that FENOC supplemental response included LRA amended Sections A.2.2.4 and 4.2.4, in which a list of the 60-year reactor vessel beltline materials was provided. The staff stated its concern that due to plant modifications in the future (e.g., power uprate) other materials not included in the list could experience 52 effective full-power year (EFPY) inside surface fluence greater than 1.0E17 n/cm2.

To address the staff concern FENOC proposed a wording change to LRA Sections A.2.2.4 and 4.2.4 to read as follows (deleted text is lined-out and added text is underlined): 'The 60-year reactor vessel beltline materials are those listed below as follows plus any other that could experience 52 EFPY inside surface fluence greater than 1.0E17 n/cm2:'

Following discussions, both parties agreed that FENOC would submit a supplemental response to RAI4.2.4-1 to incorporate the proposed changes into LRA Sections 4.2.4 and A.2.2.4, both titled "Pressure-Temperature Limits:'

There was no further discussion, and the call was concluded.

Action:

FENOC will supplement its response to RAJ 4.2.4-1.
