RESPONSE TO NOTICE OF VIOLATION AND NRC INSPECTION
REPORT 05000285/2013011
Dear Mr. Cortopassi:
Thank you for your letter dated April 24, 2013, in which you responded to NRC Inspection
Report 05000285/2013011 and Notice of Violation, dated March 11, 2013. The violation
involved the failure to classify the river sluice gates as Safety Class 3.
During our review of your response letter, we noted under Item 1, Reason for the Violation, in
the OPPD Response section of the letter, in which you state, OPPD initially denied the
original violation Our review of information on the docket show that you denied
VIO 05000285/2012002-03, Failure to Meet Design Basis Requirements for Design Basis
Flood Event, and did not deny VIO 05000285/2012002-02, Failure to Classify Intake Structure
Sluice Gates as Safety Class III.
We will review any further information about these violations and the implementation of your
corrective actions for the Notice of Violation during a future inspection to determine that full
compliance has been achieved and will be maintained.
