Annual Assessment Meeting Summary On March 22, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open-house at the Shippingport Community and Municipal Building, in Shippingport, PA. The NRC conducted the open house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at Beaver Valley, Units 1 and 2, for 2011.
A notice of the open house was issued on March 7, 2012, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML12067A055.

The NRC displayed poster boards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Beaver Valley, Units 1 and 2, for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2011, as documented in our Annual Assessment Letter dated March 5, 2012 (ADAMS Accession No. ML12060A263). These poster boards included background information on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Beaver Valley, Units 1 and 2, can be found on the NRC's web site at: www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.
Members of the public and state officials attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Beaver Valleys performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
