SUMMARY
OF THE APRIL 28, 2011 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT OPEN-HOUSE PUBLIC MEETING On April 28, at 6:00 p.m., the NRC conducted an Annual Assessment Meeting at the Shippingport Community Building in Shippingport, PA. The NRC conducted the meeting to discuss the NRCs assessment of the safety performance of the Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 for the calendar year 2010 and US plant safe operation in light of Japanese event.
A notice of the meeting was issued on April 8, 2011, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) web page (ADAMS Accession No. ML110980391).
The NRC presented slides and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2010, as documented in our letter dated March 4, 2011 (ADAMS Accession No. ML110620054).
The NRC slides presented included Beaver Valley performance summary and U.S. plant defense in depth summaries. The NRC information presented in slides are available on ADAMS (ADAMS Accession No. ML111250398).
Five members of the public, three local officials, four state officials, and eight FENOC employees attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding FENOCs performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
