ISSUANCE OF RENEWED FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO. DPR-66 FOR THE BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION, UNIT 1 (TAC NO. MD6594)

Dear Mr. Harden:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued the Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-66 for the Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit 1 (BVPS1). The NRC issued the renewed facility operating license based on the staff's review of the BVPS1 License Renewal Application, dated August 27, 2007, as supplemented by your letters submitted to the NRC through September 14, 2009. The Technical Specifications for BVPS1 were not amended as a result of our review.

The technical basis for issuing the renewed license is set forth in NUREG-1929, ASafety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of the Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2,@ published in October 2009, and Supplement 1 to NUREG-1929, published in October 2009. The results of the environmental review related to the issuance of the renewed license are contained in NUREG-1437, Supplement 36, AGeneric Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Regarding Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2,@ published in May 2009.

The Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-66 shall expire at midnight January 29, 2036.

Appendix A - ATechnical Specifications,@ and Appendix C - AAdditional Conditions.@ is a copy of the related Federal Register notice of issuance of the renewed license.
