To discuss the safety review and environmental scoping process for the license renewal application (LRA) review for Duane Arnold Energy Center. These meetings will provide members of the public with the opportunity to provide comments regarding environmental issues that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) should consider during its review of the LRA. These meetings are being conducted as part of the scoping process outlined in Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 51 (10 CFR Part 51) to support development of an environmental impact statement related to the LRA. See the enclosed Agenda and Federal Register notice of Intent to Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement and Conduct Scoping Process (74 FR 12399). Both formal sessions will be preceded by an informal ?open house@
beginning one hour prior to each session. The open house will provide members of the public with an opportunity to talk informally one-on-one with NRC staff. Members of the public may register to present oral comments at this meeting by contacting Maurice Heath, at (800) 368-5642, ext. 3137, or by e-mail at Maurice.Heath@nrc.gov, or Charles Eccelston, at (800) 368-5642, ext. 8537 or by e-mail at Charles.Eccelston@nrc.gov by April 16, 2009. Those who wish to make comments may also register at the meeting within 15 minutes of the start of each session. Individual oral comments may be limited by the time available, depending on the number of persons who register.
If special equipment or accommodations are needed to attend or present information at the meeting, the need should be brought to the attention of Mr. Heath or Mr. Eccelston, at the telephone or e-mail addresses above, no later than April 16, 2009, to provide the NRC staff adequate notice to determine whether the request can be accommodated.
