OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON JULY 10, 2008, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND ENTERGY NUCLEAR OPERATIONS, INC., CONCERNING RESPONSES TO REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THE INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT NOS. 2 AND 3, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION - CHARPY UPPER SHELL ENERGY The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. held a telephone conference call on July 10, 2008, to discuss and clarify the applicants response to the staffs request for additional information RAI 4.2.2-2, dated November 28, 2007. Specifically, the staff asked the applicant if it was aware of any reason why there were differences between the formulas, in WCAP-13587 vs. Article K-4000 of Appendix K of the ASME Code, used to calculate stress intensity factor due to radial thermal gradient. Both the applicant and NRC staff agreed that the differences may have come about during development of the ASME Code, but that confirmation was needed. The applicant indicated that it would inform the staff of any new information regarding this issue, while the staff indicated that it would do the same.
