Dear Mr. Kremer:
I am responding to your letters to me dated May 9, June 1 & 7, 2007, describing the work of the New York Affordable Reliable Energy Alliance (AREA) as well as your interest in and support for the continued safe operation of the Indian Point Energy Center. I am also following up on our teleconference on June 6 on this same subject.
As discussed with you and your staff, we have placed AREA on the distribution lists for NRC documents and communications relating to Indian Point. We will also notify you of upcoming meetings, and if we reach out to nongovernmental organizations prior to such meetings, we will contact your organization as well. For example, we plan to meet with you on June 14, prior to the first public meeting on the Indian Point license renewal process, so that we can explain our process and timeline for license renewal going forward. Finally, if exhibit space is provided to other nongovernmental organizations at NRC public meetings, you will be afforded equal space as well.
As discussed with you on June 6, I would like to meet with you and your organization in the future to describe the role of the NRC and to respond to any comments and concerns you might have. We can work to schedule such a meeting at a mutually agreeable time later this month.
