Richard~~~~~~~ Emf o6io~O~r6Eiisure Fa ilIure A pplic abilIity to VY.pdf___Pe1 Monticello CV Servo Enclosure Failure Applicability to VY There are 5 US Nuclear Power Plants with similar Turbine Control System Configuration (MHC - TCV Servo Enclosure). Monticello, Pilgrim, Vermont Yankee (VY), Nine Mile 1, Oyster Creek.
VY Turbine Control Engineer immediately sent to Monticello to assist in investigation and understand failure for applicability to Vermont Yankee. VY has also discussed its observations with Pilgrim.
Although VY has a similar Servo Enclosure, it is physically located in a different location.
VY Civil / Structural Engineers have investigated details of servo enclosure support structure.
Investigation has determined that the VY structure is of a different and more robust design. VY structure supports the cabinet load. Monticello cabinet load is suspended from the structure.
Vermont Yankee Engineering has determined that the VY structure is not subject to the same failure mechanism. Follow up verification will be performed during the upcoming refueling outage in May.
