Re: Status of the CNS SW GW Issue

Glen, Getting ahold of me can be difficult, but I'm here.

Quick update:

The HRA expert says that I am being generous giving you any recovery at all. This is based on the dominant cutsets being Loss of power and other transients not induced by the loss of service water.

Pump experts say that we would only provide credit for greater than 30 minutes if we had it in writing from the vendor. The test had too many variables of concern that would be hard to control.

I did find NUREG/CR-5750 data useful, but not in the manor that Kent suggested. The SPAR uses the Functional Impact mean frequency for a total loss of service water from Table D-1 1 on Page D-40. There is also a number for the loss of a single train. Because the issue at Cooper essentially changes the system to a single train, I intend to use 1/2 of the Partial Loss of Service Water frequency published (8.92E-3). So the IEL would be 4.46E-3.

If you would like to set up a phone call for 10:00 am tomorrow morning...that would be fine.

Dave, I left you a voice message on Monday (5/24) but I was off-site, in training, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Kent and I would like an update on where you are with this issue.

Were you able to review the information we provided to you on 5/10 & 11?

Have you received any feedback from your HRA and pump experts?

What is the general status of the analysis?

Dai Ioeless - RE: Status of the CNS SW GWlIssue Page 2 Our management is interested in an update and we would like to discuss this issue with you. Can you call or let us know when we could call you?
