SUMMARY

OF MARCH 28,2006, ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITH FIRSTENERGY On March 28,2006, at 1:00 p.m., an Annual Assessment Meeting was conducted at the Beaver Valley Power Station Training Building in Shippingport, PA, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC). The NRC requested the meeting with FENOC management to discuss NRC's assessment of the safety performance of the Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2, for calendar year 2005.

The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 for the period between January 1 through December 31,2005. The NRC presentation included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), summary of national performance assessment results, an overview of Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2's performance during calendar year 2005, and a discussion of general NRC issues. As part of this regulatory performance meeting, FENOC presented an overview of their performance(Attachment 2).

The public observed this meeting and was offered the opportunity to communicate with the NRC regarding FENOC's performance at Beaver Valley Power Station and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations. At the end of the meeting between the NRC and FENOC, the NRC offered to answer questions from the public.
