NY-0OD-1015 Semi-annual Sludge Disposal Report In accordance with the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Permit Number NY-000-1015, Additional Requirements 1.2 and General Condition 11.5 items c and d, the following is data concerning sludge disposal from July 1, 2001 to December 31, 2001.
Sludge Disposal Screenings, sludge, sewage sludge, and solids were collected and disposed of according to the following:
Unit 1 and 2 Trash Rakes: Material collected on the trash rakes is manually removed from hoppers and put into a collection container. Collected material consisted of dead fish, zebra mussels and other debris. The collected material for this six-month period was transported by licensed vendor (Waste Management, Central New York Division, Permit No. 7A-221) to a permitted landfill (Oswego County Division of Solid Waste & Recycling, Bristol Hill SW Facility) for disposal.
Unit 1 Traveling Screens: Material collected on the traveling screens is periodically back-washed into the discharge canal and subsequently re-enters Lake Ontario.
Unit 2 TravelingScreens: Material collected on the traveling screens is back-washed into a collection basket and then manually put into a container for disposal.
Collected material consisted of zebra mussels and other debris. The collected material for this six-month period was transported by licensed vendor (Waste Management, Central New York Division, Permit No. 7A-221) to a permitted landfill (Oswego County Division of Solid Waste & Recycling, Bristol Hill SW Facility) for disposal.
Page 2 NMPE 0290 Unit 2 Forebay Cleaning: The service water forebay structure was manually cleaned during this six-month period. Collected material consisted of zebra mussels and silt that had been deposited in the forebay structure during the previous years. The collected material was transported by licensed vendor (Waste Management, Central New York Division, Permit No. 7A-221) to a permitted landfill (Oswego County Division of Solid Waste & Recycling, Bristol Hill SW Facility) for disposal.
Waste Water Treatment Plant: Sewage sludge from the Waste Water Treatment Plant was collected from drying beds and placed into a transport container. A licensed vendor (Autumn Industries, Inc., Permit No. OH-067) transported the material collected during this six-month period to a permitted landfill (Middle Point Sanitary Landfill, Murfreesboro, TN 37130) for disposal.
