PUBLIC MEETING ON MARCH 16, 2004, TO DISCUSS PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT COMMITMENTS
Dear Mr. Van Middlesworth:
On March 16, 2004, a public meeting was held between Mr. James McCarthy and other members of the Nuclear Management Company (NMC) and NRC Regional Administrator, James Caldwell and other NRC officials at the Region III Office. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss commitments made by NMC in its February 13, 2004, letter submitted to the NRC in response to Inspection Report 05000266/2003007; 05000301/2003007, the Supplemental Inspection Procedure 95003 inspection report.
At the meeting, discussion details regarding the commitment letter included clarifying summary statements and performance verification objectives to some of the individual commitment items to ensure that a common understanding of NMCs actions was reached.
As a result of that meeting, NMC submitted a revised listing of commitments in a letter dated March 22, 2004. We are reviewing those revised commitments and will inform you in a separate correspondence of the results of our review.
A listing of principal NMC and NRC meeting attendees is enclosed with this letter.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Rule of Practice, a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records System (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS).
