PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS COMMITMENTS MADE IN RESPONSE TO THE RESULTS OF THE NRC INSPECTION PROCEDURE 95003 SUPPLEMENTAL INSPECTION AT THE POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT (INSPECTION REPORT 05000266/2003007; 05000301/2003007)
Dear Mr. Van Middlesworth:
This letter confirms the discussion between Mr. Mike Kunowski of the NRC staff and Ms. Fritzie Flentje of the Nuclear Management Company (NMC) to have a meeting at 9:00 a.m. (CST) on Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at the NRC Region III Office, Suite 255, 801 Warrenville Road, in Lisle, Illinois.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the commitments made by NMC in a letter dated February 13, 2004. The letter was written in response to the inspection conducted at Point Beach Nuclear Plant in accordance with NRC Inspection Procedure (IP) 95003, Supplemental Inspection for Repetitive Degraded Cornerstones, Multiple Degraded Cornerstones, Multiple Yellow Inputs, or One Red Input. The inspection was conducted to review your corrective actions for two Red inspection findings associated with the auxiliary feedwater system and to assess the adequacy of station programs and processes related to the safe operation of the plant. The results of this inspection were documented in Inspection Report 05000266/2003007; 05000301/2003007, dated February 4, 2004.
The meeting is open to the public and there will be an opportunity for the public to speak with NRC representatives before the meeting is adjourned.
