SUMMARY
OF THE APRIL 3, 2003, MEETING WITH AMERICAN ENERGY COMPANY, LCC TO DISCUSS CLINTON PERFORMANCE On April 3, 2003, a public meeting was held at the Vespasian Warner Public Library District, located in Clinton, Illinois, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and AmerGen and Exelon Generation Company staff. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss NRCs assessment of Clintons performance for the period of January 1, 2002, through December 31, 2002.
During the NRC presentation, an overall assessment of Clinton performance was provided. As explained in the Annual Assessment letter from NRC to Mr. J. Skolds, President, Exelon Nuclear, dated March 4, 2003, reference ADAMS accession number ML030640323, Clinton Power Station operated in a manner that preserved public health and safety and fully met all cornerstone objectives. The slides presented that evening by the NRC and the licensee are available in ADAMS (accession numbers ML030920496 and ML031060073).
Before adjourning the meeting the NRC provided the opportunity for members of the public to ask questions. Topics of discussion included security issues, the early site permit process, and transportation and storage of radioactive waste material.
