L-2012-097 POWERING TODAY.

EMPOWERING TOMORROW.

10 CFR 50 Appendix E U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, D. C. 20555-0001 Re:

Turkey Point Units 3 and 4 Docket Nos. 50-250 and 50-251 Emergency Response Data System (ERDS) Changes Pursuant to 10 CFR 50, Appendix E, VI, 3.b, "Maintaining the Emergency Response Data System" this letter notifies the NRC of planned changes to the Emergency Response Data System (ERDS) link software scheduled for completion by April 30, 2012 for Turkey Point Units 3 and 4. These changes will involve a conversion from a dial up modem based supplied system to a more reliable internet based utility using a PI system server and NRC supplied VPN appliance.

During implementation of these changes, the existing ERDS link will not be available.

Based on our current schedule, the existing ERDS link will be unavailable from April 9, 2012 to April 17, 2012. A courtesy call to the NRC Operations Center will be made prior to taking the existing ERDS link out of service. In the event of an emergency during this period, the ERDS plant data will be provided to the NRC by alternate means including the Emergency Notification System.

This information is provided for compliance with 10 CFR 50, Appendix E, VI, 3.b, which requires 30 days prior notification of any software or hardware changes that affect the computer communications protocol and/or transmission format of ERDS data.

Very truly yours, Michael Kiley Vice President Turkey Point Nuclear Plant cc:
